Prenatal Care

Congratulations, you might have just found out that you are pregnant, or that you are pregnant but further along in the pregnancy. In this article we will be talking about some of the necessary prenatal care that you will need to get during this time in your life.

Even if you are not pregnant, but you are trying to get pregnant it is recommended by doctors that you start taking your prenatal vitamins from the very start. That way you are sure that you have the necessary vitamins that you will need during your pregnancy. This will help to ensure that you and your baby will be healthy during your pregnancy. It’s never too early to start when you are thinking about having a child.

If you have just found out that you are pregnant, especially if you are a first time mother, then this might be a confusing time for you. You have just found out that you are pregnant, and you want to be healthy and stress free for you and your baby so you’re head might be swimming with concerns and questions right about now.

The very first thing that you should get is some prenatal vitamins. If you were at the doctors when you found out that you were pregnant then most likely they have given you some more information, and most likely a prescription for prenatal vitamins. If they did not prescribe you prenatal vitamins, or you found out that you were pregnant in your own home then you can find some prenatal vitamins in health food stores, or even your local shopping center. They can be found and purchased for as little as ten dollars. Prenatal vitamins are a necessity for you and your baby during this time especially in your first month or two when the baby is developing some of its essential body parts, including its brain.

Most likely right after you find out that you are pregnant the second thing that you will be finding is the perfect OB-GYN for you, and your baby. It is okay if you don’t find the perfect candidate for your OB-GYN right away. You will have months to find the perfect one, but you will need to find one soon even if it is not the perfect one yet.

When you get to the doctors they will be asking you about your family history, and your baby’s father’s family history. They will ask you this so they can see if any problems might arise during your pregnancy since your child’s DNA comes from both you and your child’s father. You will also want to know the day of your last period so they can estimate your conception date, and your due date.  It would be wise to have most of this information at hand before you get into the doctor’s office.

During your doctor’s visit the doctor will answer any questions and concerns that you currently have. They are there to help put you at ease. If you are a new mother then there is a chance that you might be overwhelmed with questions, and concerns. If you are further along at this point your doctor might give you an ultrasound, and you can view your baby yourself for the first time.

Once you see that first ultrasound you will want to do your best to have a healthy baby. If not you will have to start eating better. Remember the food pyramid? You will want to follow that pyramid to a T if you can.

You are now pregnant, and this is a time to enjoy for the both of you. You are bringing a baby into this world. Congratulations!
